Old Town Farmers' Market will be the first Kansas market to sell wine from a local vineyard

WICHITA — If you’re picking up some pasta and vegetables this Saturday at the Old Town Farmers’ Market, you can now also buy some wine to complete your meal ... Market coordinator Pat Randleas says the market will be the first in Kansas to have a local winery as a vendor ... “It’ll be just another great addition to what we already have,” she says. “It’ll broaden our offerings.” ... Since Sunday, the river otter at the Sedgwick County Zoo has been teaching her four babies, born March 26, to turn and twirl and use their tails as rudders when they swim ... Officials at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita are getting rid of blue sno-cones after a mix-up involving commercial degreaser ... Four people became ill Thursday when a zoo employee poured a degreasing agent into the sno-cone machine instead of flavored syrup ... The two bottles are the same size, shape and color and accidentally got stocked next to each other. A zoo spokeswoman said the employee didn't read the labels and apologized to families who got sick ... None of the victims ingested

The Sedgwick County Zoo's new Slawson Family Tiger Trek exhibit will have its grand opening beginning at 10 a.m. today ... Council pulls arts funding for Cowtown

Wichita City Council members today pulled $267,000 in cultural arts funding from the Old Cowtown Museum, saying that the committee that advises the council on arts funding was pressured into giving the city-owned museum more money to survive ...
